STUDENT
Extension Activities

Learning doesn't just end after you've written the paper.

Consider researching and completing one of the following options.

Feel free to complete more than one project.

Extend Your Learning:

  • Compare your diet to a healthier or less nutritious diet.
  • Research one of the nutrition-related diseases suggested in the film. How does the disease affect people? How can good nutrition prevent this disease? Present your findings to the class.
  • Create a plan to submit to the schoolboard to improve the cafeteria food at your school by creating a comparison chart of what is served at your school and healthier substitute foods. Be sure to include costs. Go to the Natural Ovens Bakery site, the company helping to create healthier meals for the students at Appleton Central Alternative School, to download and read the school nutritional suggestions [.pdf file] as mentioned in the SuperSize Me. Then, write a letter to your schoolboard explaining why the foods at your school should change. Be sure to include your chart.
  • Create one of the recipes suggested from the Natural Ovens Bakery site and bring samples for the class to try.
  • Create a PowerPoint presentation suggesting alternative foods for students at your school. Check the Nutritional Whole Fresh Food Guide for suggestions. Present your suggestions to the class.
